Does Anyone Else Think It’s A Tragedy That Most Americans Are Too Lazy To Vote?

The United States of America is the third most populated country in the world and it is a tragedy that most americans are too lazy to vote, who agrees?
Over the years US Soldiers had to fight and die to guarentee that right to vote for every american, election results today would look a lot diffrent if most people voted. So many people think that voting dosen’t matter, that just isn’t true, there is no evidence to support that conclusion, some will say they have a right not to vote,(they should also say they will be treated as sheep for not voting). It’s not that hard to vote,I live in California where I vote by mail (absentee vote) I mail my ballot a week before election day. It’s bad enough that most americans don’t go to college, have ever joined the Military and don’t even bother to vote, but they have plenty of time to watch TV,movies, have long conversations on cell phones and play video games but no time to vote.

Ha ha ha, I get it.
You complain that people are too “lazy” to vote.
Yet you live in CA and don’t go to the polling place, so you mail your vote in, like your “absent” from California. It’s like Irony!
    Great joke!

It’s probably best that they didn’t. If you are already a drone of the corporate mass media, it means you are already too distracted by their lies of what life is supposed to be about (consumption, entertainment) than to really bother to understand what exactly is at stake. If they don’t make time to vote it means they would make even less time to research the issues of the politicians they would be voting for, stand for — their history, their rhetoric versus their actions, etc.

They are lazy, apethetic, and don’t know, remember, or care what it’s like to be an American with a right to choose who will represent the people. But they are the first ones to complain when they disagree with something. If you’re not going to vote, keep your mouth shut. Do something for your country for a change instead of waiting for your handouts. If you don’t care enough to even vote, you don’t care for your country or your country’s future and no one should have to hear you.

The way I look at it, if they choose to make my vote more powerful by choosing not to exercise theirs then so be it.
However, it really frosts me when the same ones who choose not to vote do nothing but complain constantly about the leadership. If it isn’t important enough to them during the campaign then I don’t want to hear about their opinions afterward.

Personally, I would rather the people too lazy to learn about the issues or to care NOT vote. I don’t want people who “can’t be bothered” to influence the election.
Let the people who care vote in our elections…..everyone else has American Idol they can vote for.
But yes, it is a shame that more people don’t care.
edit: paintedh…, That should make you want to vote more…..vote your state legislatures out of office….the ones that are responsible for you losing half your delegates in the first place!

When I lived in Louisiana, poor blacks were bussed to the polls and paid to vote. What kind of a system is that?
Australia pays each voter $35. What kind of a system is that?
A lot of us don’t want to be responsible for the next idiot elected into office whether local or state or national.
What kind of a system is that?

I agree, it’s a shame! They are too lazy to lift their behind and go spend few minutes to vote.
May be if they lived in the socialist country and witnessed how non-democratic elections look like they would go, but they will never know or think about it.

Are you kidding. This year the Democratic Primary set a record in votes 35,000 almost 20% higher than ever before. The tyranny of the bush administration has show that Americans will always rise to the occasion.

I agree to a point. Freedom to abstain from voting is a right too. That or you can’t stand ANY of the candidates so you don’t vote for them.

Yes, I think it’s a tragedy. Everytime I hear .”…the youth vote is coming out this year in record numbers…” I shake my head, because I know ~history speaking~ it never happens.

Isn’t it better if less people vote, in particular more intelligent ones who actually research a candidate first?

  12. Every time I hear the Youth vote is coming I think Oh God all those stupid kids that know nothing are going to vote. I am glad few ever do.

Only landowners should be allowed to vote in the USA.

I voted and then half my vote was taken away. What incentive do I have to vote again?
