I am talking about all 4 loyal democrat states, out of those, which will vote Republican first in the next lets say 20 elections?
I know it is hard to tell so I will do it like this, if you make a pick and explain why you made your pick you will get best answer, make the explanation detailed.

It is tied between California and Illinois for me, but both deter me from the choice, Illinois has a high African American population in Chicago and even if 60 percent of the states goes Republican, it is up to the man from the district to make their votes count, which most likely will not happen.
California has too many immigrants who just became citizens, too many left wing nut cases, and a high minority population, all of which democrats attract votes from. THOUGH California CAN go Red if the Republicans were to put up a Hispanic man to run for president, then that will ensure a close race in California and the state will vote Red (since Hispanics are the largest group there).
New York is split, upstate can go Republican but NYC is full of urban trash. I hate to state it like that but a lot of people in NYC just want an extra check, this is not helped much at all by its 3 boroughs (excluding Manhattan which makes 4) which are full of bums and hoodrats who do not know what is happening in the White House, all they know is Blue = Cash. So do not expect NY to go democrat.
Massachusetts is known as an educated state but the thing is that it has heavy left leanings. Sure it did have Mitt Romney as a governor but still, it is hard to imagine this state out of all choices given would vote Republican. It has a lot of liberals and a lot of its top universities typically do support Democrats. THE ONLY way this state will vote Republican is if the beliefs flip flopped and switched between the Republicans and Democrats.
Illinois is my most likely pick because it is sandwiched between two red states and outside of Chicago the state is full of a lot of conservatives. The Midwest typically goes to Republicans who make a case of being a good runner, Illinois may have voted Democrat in the past but I can see that state becoming a swing state soon.
So here is my order
1. California – if the Republicans nominate a Hispanic to run for president then chances are that they WILL win this state in the elections.
2. Illinois – because of its heavy conservative side found in the rural parts.
3. Massachusetts – if the Republicans switched their beliefs with the Democrats on major issues like gun laws, gay marriage and abortion etc, then this state may swing Republican
4. New York – NYC is full of too many single minded people who only want free cash, it is too urbanized and urbanized people have egregious IQs and HATE REPUBLICANS and White people. So this state, it will take a miracle to vote Republican.
California could go Republican, especially if the another Regan style Republican came along, or someone who had non Religious Republican values. More in the lines of older Republican like financial conservative, individual freedom.
Massachusetts too could go Republican given the right person. He’d have to be pro-choice, pro-environment, etc but Republicans did once rule New England under the guise of Social Liberalism/Fiscal Conservatism.
Illinois: Get rid of Chicago and it’s a red state.
New York: There’s just too many cities spread out across the state to make this state go Red.
massachusetts- because massachusetts is a republican state and has been since the mid 1800’s. had majority democrats for a small time during the kennedy era and then the republicans took over again. even their newspaper is called the republican
I guess I would have to say California since it has been a pre-dominantly Republican state more recently then the others. I live in Mass. and I really don’t see the state turning anytime soon. Even though President Obama was from Chicago I could possibly see Illinois going that way. New York… no… they’ll stay blue for a while.
Illinois, which is in most danger of freezing over in the next ice age. When that happens, they’ll vote Republican to increase CO2 industrial contamination emissions, thereby to accelerate global warming and hence thaw out.
It may be a while before the ice hits.
Illinois. They are sandwiched in between two solid red states, Missouri and Indiana. The “don’t tread on me” mentality (which I like) is bound to find its’ way into the land of Lincoln (who was a Republican btw).
Being from Chicago, and all it’s Democratic corruption. I would have to bet (and hope) Illinois.
California has had a long string of Republican governors.
California has proven to flip flop given the right circumstance like Ronald Reagan for Pres.
New York, them Massachusettes. Because of both have very incompetent Governors.
All but Illinois will always remain Liberal.
Dem, Repub…what’s the difference?
sure as hell not new york.
Illinois is probably your best bet in my opinion.
