I have never registered to vote before and also am really good at procrastinating, so before I pass up the opportunity to vote this upcoming election, can someone tell me how to do it if I recently moved? I moved from Arizona last month to California, switched my mailing address (not permanently, though) to California, but my driver’s license is still my Arizona license. Can I vote in California, or do I get an absentee ballot from Arizona, even though my current mailing address is in California? I’m so confused to the point I almost don’t want to register this year, and I’m too scared to put my information online when I go searching for how to go about this process. Can someone point me to the correct government page online that tells citizens how to do this, or tell me where to register, whether it be through an absentee ballot or going to the voting booth in California? Thanks and sorry for confusing you if I did…I know how you feel. It sounds more complicated when I write it out.

You need to check out the Secretary of State’s site (I put it below). Once you register you have a specific place to vote and if you can’t be there you fill out an absentee ballot application and then they send you one. I’d check out the site and see what you need to do.

(might need to check Arizona’s since you are legally a resident there)
Typically and I’m positive it’s the same in all states. After moving to a new state you have 30 days to re register your vehicle and change your drivers license. When you register your car in your new state they will ask you if you want to register to vote.
So be legal. Register your car in California and you will be registered to vote in your district.
Easy as pie!
i believe you can find this information out online without giving up your personal information. just do a search for registering to vote and they will have reasons and FAQ’s about registering in your area and about absentee ballots. i think but am not positive you need to be at your new address for 30 days when you register in your new area if not you should be able to request an absentee ballot and vote that way.
No, you can not vote in CA if you are listed as an AZ resident. All you need to do is change your drivers license to your proper address which you will need to do anyway.
Here you go:http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/election…
in michigan you can only vote absentee if you are not going to be in the state to vote or are in the armed services or have health issues that keep you confined at home. if you still have time to register in california do it there. if i understand you correctly then you are not a legal resident of arizona anymore. go to your city hall’s clerks office. they will be able to tell you the requirements. here in michigan we register at the secretary of states office which is where we get our drivers licenses but i am not sure if you can do it at your dmv.
